CoconatsuPLUS is a journal dedicated to otaku writing.

The goal of this collection is to foster critical, theoretical, and philosophical reflection on contemporary media culture rooted in the cute, hyper-saturated machine of moe. Writers are encouraged to bridge multidisciplinary topics in order to pose problems that cannot be answered by a lonesome perspective.

The otaku is both method and object. A mode of being that produces, but is also produced.

Otaku is not a demographic of consumers, nor a mere group of people; it is a state of becoming. A topological structure of desire and production that eludes steady definition and yet remains pertinent as a real force of energy.

Doujinshi, Anikura, and games all continue to reshape themselves through the flux of cultural conditions. Archetypes, niche music genres, or cores, gain mass in context and viscosity. Comiket metastasizes on a planetary scale.

To become Otaku is to desire endlessly; chances are, you already are.
